MAPGEO2010

MAPGEO2010 is the official Brazilian geoid model and companion utility developed by IBGE (the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics) to convert GNSS ellipsoidal heights to orthometric heights across Brazil. Aligned with the SIRGAS2000/GRS80 reference frame, it provides geoid undulation (N) values and computes orthometric height using H = h − N. It is intended for surveyors, geodesists, engineers, and mapping professionals who require heights consistent with Brazil’s national vertical reference.

Key features:

• National geoid model produced by IBGE using gravity data, GPS/leveling, and terrain information
• Single-point and batch processing to compute geoid undulation and orthometric height
• Input in geodetic coordinates (latitude/longitude) on SIRGAS2000, with common formats such as decimal degrees or DMS
• Offline interpolation from a gridded geoid surface covering Brazilian territory
• Outputs suitable for CAD/GIS workflows (for example, plain text or CSV)

Notes:

• Ensure your GNSS heights are referenced to SIRGAS2000 for consistent results.
• MAPGEO2010 has been superseded by MAPGEO2015; use the newer model for current projects, while retaining MAPGEO2010 for legacy data.
• The software is free to download from IBGE’s website; the interface and documentation are primarily in Portuguese.
